Trolltunga is one of the most spectacular mountain formations in the world, attracting over 100,000 tourists annually.
Trolltunga is approximately 1100 meters above sea level, and “floats” 700 meters above Ringedalsvannet. Tyssedal Hotell is the closest hotel to Trolltunga. Start early to not have long wait to take the popular picture. From us it is about 10 minutes by car to the starting point of the trip.

For a stunning view over Tyssedal and the Fjord, you can hike to the watchman’s house at Lilletopp, in Tyssedal. At the top you will see the distribution dam, the dry tunnels and the start of the penstocks that delivered water to the turbines at NVIM. The most adventurous and demanding journey to Lilletopp is climbing the Via Ferrata, which includes hiking up metal bars drilled into the rock.
